Certificate in Bridal Makeup

Overview

Bridal work is the backbone of most makeup artists' income in South Africa. This certificate teaches the complete bridal service as Brandon runs it: the enquiry, the trial, the morning of the wedding and the follow-up.

It is suitable for working artists adding bridal to their services, and for diploma students who want to specialise early.

What you will learn

  • Run a bridal consultation and trial with confidence
  • Build makeup that survives heat, tears and a twelve-hour day
  • Create soft, classic and full-glam bridal looks for every skin tone
  • Plan timings for a bride and bridal party
  • Photograph well under flash and natural light
  • Quote, take deposits and handle contracts

Curriculum

7 modules, studied in order.

  1. The bridal consultation

Reading the brief, references, and setting expectations.

  2. The trial

Testing products, adjusting the look and recording it for the day.

  3. Skin for longevity

Prep, primers, layering and setting for long days.

  4. Soft, classic and glam bridal looks

Three signature looks, demonstrated on different skin tones.

  5. The bridal party

Workflow, timings and managing a team on the morning.

  6. Camera and flash

Avoiding flashback and making makeup read in photographs.

  7. The business of bridal

Pricing, travel fees, deposits, contracts and reviews.

Assessment and award

Submit three complete bridal looks (soft, classic and glam) with before-and-after photographs and a short consultation video. Each is marked with written feedback. The certificate is awarded when all three pass.

Awarded: Certificate in Bridal Makeup.
